Today I found it a little hard not to laugh out loud at a press release I received. Now I do get rather a lot of them but this one really stood out.

Rightly or wrongly press releases play a large part in the life of the modern journalist.

On a minor point this one was silly because it was from a Cardiff-based online parenting resource - The Baby Website.

Now I cover quite a lot of south-west London - but not much further than that. And as much as I have spent many a lovely break in Cardiff - I don’t think I can stretch my news area that far.

But really the reason it was quite so amusing was its content. You see it was a survey - nothing unusual there. But this was a survey that came to the conclusion that if men could breast feed a quater would choose to.

One more time guys, just to make sure. If men could breast feed a quarter would choose to.

But men can't breast feed. So what does it matter how many of them would do it?

I wonder what survey I'll receive next? A survey that finds most people would turn their heads inside out if they could choose to - just to see what would happen. Some people would have a flit flying if they could choose to. Statistical evidence showing most people would decide not to turn into a giant three-headed space alien made entirely of ice-cream if they could just for the giggles.
