A bus has crashed with a lorry outside East Croydon station.

Emergency services were called to George Street at about 10.15am this morning to reports of a collison.

Pictures posted on Twitter show a 198 bus with a smashed window on the driver's side stricken in the middle of the road.

A flat-back lorry can be seen marooned next the bus and jacknifed across the George Street tram line.

Matt White tweeted reports of "long queues of buses and trams" in the road.

He said: "Some long lorry has managed to go into a bus as it was turning by East Croydon station and smashed out the driver side window and front.

"Literally nothing is moving, long queue of buses and trams as lorry is now across whole road and tram line. What a mess haha."

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said there was significant disruption in the area but no reports of any injuries.

Transport for London tram services were disrupted between Reeves Corner and East Croydon for 15 minutes.

Services are now running as normal.
