Officers from the Surrey and Sussex major crime team launched a murder investigation following Monday's shooting.

A post-mortem examination established the cause of Mr Hunter's death to be a single gunshot wound.

Forensic teams are continuing to carry out a detailed examination of the house where the violence took place and this is expected to continue for a number of days.

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Rymarz, from the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team, said: "This was a shocking incident where a man lost his life and we are determined to bring those responsible to justice.

"Following the incident we quickly launched a large-scale police investigation to speak to anyone who was at the private pool party and gather all relevant information to establish what happened.

"We know there were several hundred people at the pool party in Church Lane on the evening of Sunday, 24 July into the early hours of Monday, 25 July and although we have already spoken to a number of witnesses we intend to speak to everyone who was at the party.

"I would therefore ask anyone who was at the event and may have seen what happened or with any footage or information who has not spoken to police to come forward as a matter of urgency.

"I would like to assure people that we will treat any reports or information provided in the strictest confidence."

Your Local Guardian:

Police were called to the mansion in Headley in the early hours of Monday morning

Pary organiser Summerlyn Farquharson, who goes by the name The Female Boss Krissy, denied early reports that the event was a "sex party" and said she did not know the victim.

She said she had rented the house, in a small road between the church and a pub in the quiet village, for the past four years and had held similar parties twice before without any trouble.

She told the Press Association: "Before the shooting everything was nice and then it was chaos. We have never had problems before and we have done the party on a yearly basis.

"At about two o'clock the crowd was getting unruly, I am not sure if it was the alcohol but by the time I got to the security I heard a gunshot, I saw people running, people were trying to get into the house.

"People weren't allowed in the house as it was a pool party but they were banging on the door.

"I opened the door to let Spookie in, people were shouting to call the police, saying someone was shot, so I called the police and locked us in.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or with any information is urged to call Surrey Police on 101, quoting reference 45160064338, or call independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
