A man was found suffering facial injuries by police hunting a person carrying a knife in Selhurst.
Officers were called to Whitehorse Lane at about 8.05pm last night to reports of a person seen with a knife.
They arrived and found a man, believed aged 21, suffering injuries to his face.
They were not stab wounds, a Metropolitan Police spokesman said.
The man was taken to hospital, where his condition is not believed to be serious.
Police cordoned off an area near the Sainsbury's supermarket adjoining Selhurst Park.
Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident.
No arrests have been made.
