Detectives are hunting four men after a 31-year-old man was dragged into a back street, then beaten and robbed after a night out.
The victim was walking alone in Seneca Road, Thornton Heath, at about 2.50am on Sunday, when he was approached by four men, police said this morning.
Then men took him to "a quiet back street" and assaulted him, leaving him with multiple head injuries, including fractures.
They stole his wallet and mobile phone.
Police want to talk to the men pictured here in connection with the attack.
Detective Constable Jacqueline Flockton, from Croydon CID, said: "We believe that this attack was motivated by robbery.
"However, the level of violence went far beyond the usual and left the victim with fractures to his face and a number of head injuries."
Anyone with information should call Croydon CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, and quote reference 3824488/15.
